Binary-Search Compression Algorithm
When you select "Compress to 100KB," we do not simply set JPEG quality to 70% and hope for the best. We run a binary search: start at quality 95, check the file size, then halve the search range — up to 15 times — until we find the highest quality setting that produces a file strictly below 100KB. The result: maximum quality within your exact target.

Lanczos Resampling for Dimension Reduction
When quality reduction alone cannot reach the target (common for very large images targeting very small sizes like 20KB), we reduce pixel dimensions. We use Lanczos resampling — the highest-quality downscaling algorithm — rather than simple bilinear or nearest-neighbor methods. Lanczos preserves edge sharpness and fine detail better than any other common algorithm.

EXIF Orientation Auto-Correction
When you take a portrait photo on your phone, the camera saves it in landscape orientation with an EXIF rotation tag saying "rotate 90°." Many platforms ignore this tag, showing your photo sideways. We read the EXIF orientation tag and physically rotate the image before compression, so it displays correctly everywhere — regardless of platform support.
